The video thumbnail is so important in your video marketing because it’s the first thing people see. It’s the eye-catcher in the search results.
Its job is super important – grab attention and entice those lookers to CLICK.
If you are hosting your video on YouTube, when you upload your video, YouTube will give you a choice of 3 thumbnails to use.
You may be lucky and one of those may just be perfect. But in most cases, what gives the best ‘click-through’ result is a custom thumbnail that is designed to really stand out and ‘sell’ the click.
Providing your YouTube account is verified you will be able to change your thumbnail as you wish and upload your own.

- Then we have a bold colour so it really stands out on the screen next to the typical sea of black and white text listings.
